State Convention Party Bus

May 8th, 2012 by Kathleen Thompson, Communications Director

State Convention Delegates,

Mr. Jimmy Killingsworth is working to organize a party bus to the State Democratic Convention, traveling to Houston Thursday, June 7, and returning to Fort Worth, Saturday, June 9.

Costs to ride will be between $75 and $95, depending on the bus company chosen and the number of riders. We must know how many Tarrant Democrats are interested in the bus. Please complete this online form if you’d like to ride on the State Convention Party Bus.

The Donkey Speaks: It’s a Sign

April 30th, 2012 by Kathleen Thompson, Communications Director

The response to the “Party for the Party” Gala and the Senate District Conventions is a sign of things to come this summer and fall, leading into the November 6 general election. We are on the right track. We surpassed our aggressive fundraising goal at the gala and we had hundreds of Democrats come out on a beautiful Saturday morning for the business of Democratic Party organizing. A special thanks to Lee Henderson, for his work on the gala and our four senate district convention chairs Linda Cozzen, Randy Daniels, Byron Sibbet and Marvin Sutton. Thanks also to all of our generous donors and our army of volunteers:

Angela Abram, Julie Abrams, Dick Abrams, Shirley Adams, Trista Allen, Emma Allen, Marva Allums, Berrolyn Anderson, Ollie Anderson, Jay Anthis, Linda Anthis, Paul Belisch, John AJ Boeglin, Mark Brain, Marion Brantley, Connor Brantley, Raymond Brantley, Rena Brown, Vila Campagna, Richard Canada, Andy Caves, Ellen Chase, Joe Chavez, Aracely Chavez, Carol Cordell, Doug Dehne, Diana DeLeon, Mary Edwards, Carolyn English, Steve Epstein, Ruthie Foster, Esmeralda Frias, Roy Griffin, Blanca Gonzales, Felipe Gutierrez, Rowdy Guzman, Melinda Hamilton, Nelda Harris, Chris Hilbert, Stephen Prescott Harris II, Rodney Henry, Chris Hightower, Harriet Irby, Shavers Jackson, Stephanie Jackson, Zac Johnson, Cindy James, Dee Jay Johannesson, Jana Johnson, Lynn Johnson, Stan Johnson, Jimmy Killingsworth, Karen Kologe, Susie Lattimore, Sean Lynch, Earnest Mackey, Donna C. McClung, Ann McClure, Nancy Miracle, Tina Napier, Jeanne Owers, Jodi Perry, Derek-Gerome Pullins, Steve Raborn, Yolanda Ramirez, Ryan Ray, Jace Reeder, Vera Roberts, Barbara Rubin, Ali Sajed, M. Emad Salem, Greg Scott, Wylie Seals, Aftab Siddiqui, Karen Silverberg, Charlie Ray Smith, Cheryl Smith, Deborah Spell, Stephen Vickers, Bennie Vinson, Diane Viviana, Joy Wallace, Vicki Watkins, Kenneth Williams, Burble Williams, Ben Willis, Sharen Wiltshire and Cathie Wincovitch

Speaking of signs, our Texans for Obama yard signs are in. Our Tarrant County, union-made signs are available at your TCDP headquarters for a $12 donation. You can pick up bumper stickers and buttons while you’re here too. Our three-pack of yard sign, bumper sticker and button is available for only $20 and every cent goes toward re-electing President Obama and turning out the Democratic base for straight ticket voting right here in Tarrant County.

Voters are calling the TCDP headquarters daily with questions about voting. Let me answer those here, and please pass this information on to your friends and family.

  • By court order, voter registration cards were mailed last week. Unless you’ve moved, you do not need to fill out a new registration card. If you have moved, download a card here and check the change of address box.
  • You don’t need anything new to vote in the upcoming May municipals or the May 29 Texas Primary. There is some confusion over the Voter ID law passed by the Republican super majority in the last legislative session. That law is in the court system now and has not gone into effect, so you don’t need anything new to vote this year.

It’s been a great couple of weeks for the Tarrant County Democratic Party. Thanks for being part of it!

Gratefully,
Steve

P.S. Please mark your calendar now for our Saturday, June 2, County Canvass. In coordination with Organizing for America, we will knock on targeted Tarrant County doors to push the straight ticket message to Democratic voters. Training and food will be provided at the TCDP headquarters, beginning at 9:30 a.m., leaving the headquarters at 10:00 a.m. and finishing at 12:30 p.m. We are solely responsible for building and turning out the Democratic Base in Tarrant County. This is the first of many efforts to meet our responsibility and our goal of turning out the base and increasing straight ticket voting by 15,000 votes.
